As a lover of nature, I sink into utter despair
when I see all the terrible damage done to our planet by
human scientific and industrial progress.
If only we could return to the days of primitive man,
free from big business and pollution.
As the EU Commissioner for Environmental Love, my
concern is with the welfare of our European skies,
trees, wild mammals and insects. We must not sacrifice
nature to human progress.
Even though we know that human health and life
expectancy has improved and increased enormously since
the industrial revolution, I still believe that there
should be complete spiritual harmony between humanity
and with mother nature, (the type of higher spiritual
dimension
I experience when smoking cannabis for my backache).
Many scientists assert that human survival depends
upon man's success at production, without which man
would be reduced to the diseases and poverty of the
middle ages. We do not agree.
Life without technology and machines would not
necessarily be a terrible ordeal for humanity..... and
even if it that were the case, isn't it about time we
were punished for what we have done to mother earth?
It is not actually the whole of humanity that is to
blame for the state of the planet. It is the
scientists and businessmen who are responsible.
We environmental campaigners are not necessarily
opposed to scientific and industrial progress as such,
just when progress is at the expense of nature.
And this is why EU environmentalists must have control
over the means of production. Scientists and
businessmen must must realise that their duty is to
serve the welfare of the whole of nature, not just
humanity. It is the duty of scientists and businessmen
to come up with the solutions and we will make sure
they comply.
Ignore those critics who say that there is no evidence
that global warming is the result of the burning of
fossil fuels or that pollution is a technical problem
and not a political one. Pollution is politics. That
is why I became an environmentalist, my love of nature
exceeds my love of humanity.
